Planning your darshan
- Start early. Queues at Baba Baidyanath Dham are shortest early in the morning, and much longer on Mondays and festival days.
- Check the latest arrangements. Queue systems, special darshan and vehicle restrictions change, especially during Shravani Mela. Follow announcements from the temple administration and the district administration.
- Travel light. Carry little more than your puja items and essentials. Keep phones and money secure in crowds.
- Agree the fare first. For cabs, confirm the total including waiting time, parking and tolls before you start. Listed prices on this site are a good guide.
- Combine your trip. Many families visit Basukinath on the same day. Ask for a round-trip price.

Shravani Mela tips
Every Sawan, lakhs of kanwariyas carry Ganga water from Sultanganj to Baba Dham, most of them barefoot over about 100 km. Deoghar is at its busiest, so a little planning goes a long way.
- Book cabs and drivers several days ahead, especially for Mondays.
- Expect road diversions and no-vehicle zones near the temple. Ask your driver where pickup is allowed.
- Drink plenty of water and use the medical and rest camps along the route.
- In an emergency, call 112. For lost belongings, contact the nearest police help desk.
